Concrete, concrete mixer
After The Butcher, Berlin 2018
The concrete mixer performed a casting act where layers of concrete were poured onto itself untill water got inside the engine and the machine was no longer able to turn. It is permanently installed in front of the gallery “After The Butcher” in Berlin. The building, that the gallery is located in, is one of the first concrete houses that was built in Berlin.
The casting process took about five hours. Sand, water and cement was poured into the machine through a made-up funnel system. A rectangular mold that was build around the machine gave shape to the concrete as it was poured out of the mixer. The concrete mixer cast about 25 times before it broke down.
